Ministry of Industry and Information Technology: The development level of my country's industrial clusters is accelerating

Wang Wei, director of the Planning Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said on the 23rd that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and relevant departments have built 445 national demonstration bases for new industrialization industries relying on advantageous development zones and industrial parks. It has created nearly 30% of the national industrial added value and more than 30% of the import and export volume, and has become an important force leading the high-quality development of the regional manufacturing industry and enhancing industrial competitiveness.

Wang Wei made the above statement at the press conference on the theme of "actively serving and integrating into the new development pattern to promote the coordinated development of manufacturing industries" held by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology on the 23rd.

He said that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has joined forces with relevant departments to promote the adjustment and optimization of the layout of major productivity in the manufacturing industry, and the regional development of the manufacturing industry has become more coordinated.

The data released at the meeting showed that in 2021, the added value of the manufacturing industry in the eastern region will account for 30.5% of the regional GDP, making it a highland for the development of smart manufacturing in my country. By undertaking the transfer of industries in the eastern region and accelerating the cultivation of emerging industries, the characteristic and advantageous industries in the central region have achieved leapfrog development, and the role of advanced manufacturing bases has become more prominent. The industry in the western region maintained a rapid growth trend, and the industrial upgrading in the northeastern region made new progress.

In addition, the high-quality development of manufacturing in key regions has achieved results. For example, three provinces and one city in the Yangtze River Delta have established industrial chain alliances around key industries to deepen inter-regional industrial chain cooperation and docking. The Chengdu-Chongqing region has accelerated to become the growth pole of the manufacturing industry in the western region.

It is worth mentioning that the development level of industrial clusters has accelerated. Wang Wei said that the 25 advanced manufacturing clusters that are currently being cultivated have gathered nearly 100 individual champion companies and thousands of specialized, special and new "little giant" companies. In the first half of this year, 25 advanced manufacturing clusters completed an output value of 6.2 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.1% over the same period last year.

"We must also see that the problem of unbalanced and insufficient regional development of my country's manufacturing industry is still prominent, and greater efforts are needed to promote the solution." Wang Wei said that the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will implement the national regional development strategy and promote manufacturing power and network development. The construction of a strong country is closely integrated to promote the formation of a coordinated regional development pattern of manufacturing industries with complementary advantages and high-quality development.
